Request a current CV and ask about patient ages, diagnoses, weekly volume, available days, student history, and direct supervision. Confirm the setting offers suitable primary care for FNP or psychiatric assessment and management for PMHNP.

Identify the authorized organizational contact. A health system may use centralized educational review, while a small clinic may decide locally. Both must be able to approve learners and complete required documents.

Burlington and nearby communities contain the state's largest concentration of primary care, psychiatric, adult, women's health, and specialty options. Montpelier and Barre form a central cluster, while Rutland serves a broad south central region.

Brattleboro and Bennington are important southern anchors. St. Johnsbury can support a Northeast Kingdom search. Smaller towns may offer broad patient exposure but limited student capacity, making a wider radius and earlier outreach useful.

Weather, road conditions, and early shifts affect the practical commute. A site in New York, New Hampshire, or Massachusetts is a separate state location and requires separate WGU review.
