Terms of Service

WGU requires its NP students to find their own preceptor and keeps no list of preceptors; its Clinical Learning and Placement Support team reviews and approves the preceptor and site you bring and helps establish the Affiliation Agreement, but does not source or assign a preceptor for you.

We fill that gap. We identify and verify a WGU-approvable preceptor and both required clinical sites, and we shepherd the Affiliation Agreement so you can clear the Field Experience Page on time. We serve the MSN FNP and PMHNP tracks, the post-master's APRN certificates in FNP and PMHNP, and the RN-to-BSN 35-hour community field experience. We do not serve prelicensure BSN students, because WGU secures those placements itself.

We guarantee our effort to source, verify, and coordinate, not any outcome that only WGU or a licensing board controls. We do not guarantee admission to WGU, approval of any specific preceptor or site by your Placement Coordinator, or eligibility for licensure or certification. Those decisions rest with WGU, its accreditor, and your state board.

We provide informational support only. Program facts on this site (such as 650 direct patient care clinical hours across Clinical Internship I to III, the minimum of two clinical sites, telehealth caps of up to 10 percent for FNP and up to 75 percent for PMHNP, and preceptor eligibility rules) reflect WGU requirements as we understand them, but you must confirm every detail against your current WGU handbook and your Placement Coordinator. WGU's programs are accredited by CCNE, not ACEN, and WGU confers no DNP.

Note that the FNP and PMHNP programs are not available to residents of California, DC, Louisiana, New York, North Dakota, or Washington, and Kansas residents seeking Kansas licensure who started on or after March 1, 2025 complete 750 hours. We cannot change these requirements.

You pay only once your preceptor and site are confirmed. There is no charge to inquire, and you owe nothing until a WGU-approvable preceptor and the required site are secured and ready for your Affiliation Agreement.

Independent NP preceptor placement runs roughly 1,500 to 2,500 dollars per rotation, with psychiatric placements at the higher end. Our fee covers our sourcing, verification, and affiliation-agreement legwork. It is never a payment to the preceptor; WGU preceptors are unpaid volunteers, and no part of your fee reaches them.

• Not included: any payment to a preceptor, and any site onboarding fees charged directly by DISA, Complio, ACEMAPP, or CastleBranch

You are responsible for meeting WGU's own requirements, logging your hours in WGU's Field Experience Page and Activity Log inside the Student Portal, completing compliance through DISA Healthcare Technology and the Complio platform, and finishing any site-specific onboarding. Engaging your Placement Coordinator on time, about one year before Clinical Internship I, remains your responsibility.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the fees you paid us for the affected placement. We are not liable for WGU decisions, board or licensing outcomes, site or preceptor withdrawal, or delays in Affiliation Agreement negotiation, which can take up to six months. We may update these terms, and continued use of the service means you accept the current version.
