Present the WGU track, Internship course, patients, dates, availability, and requested preceptor information. Ask who manages learners and whether a fixed application period applies.

The Placement Coordinator in CLPS reviews and approves the preceptor and site and helps establish the Affiliation Agreement. The facility may add health records, screening, privacy training, orientation, or department acceptance.

Check internal student deadlines before relying on the Internship start date. Large Minnesota organizations may select learners by semester or department, and a willing clinician may not control the final site decision. Record the education contact and the earliest applicable deadline.

Choose an alternate region while the first request is under review. Rochester, Duluth, Saint Cloud, Mankato, Moorhead, and northern communities have different travel patterns and provider supply. The backup must still meet the course and CLPS requirements.

Ask how winter closures, holidays, patient cancellations, and preceptor leave are handled. A schedule with approved backup days is safer than one that assumes every planned clinic day will occur. Keep the second-site requirement visible when making any change.

An Affiliation Agreement can take up to six months. Students should engage the Placement Coordinator about one year before Clinical Internship I. Starting early gives WGU and the Minnesota organization time to review and leaves a path to another site.

Ask whether the exact legal entity and location are covered. Track agreement work separately from personal compliance and the facility's student application.

WGU MSN FNP and PMHNP students each require 650 direct patient care hours across three Clinical Internship courses and at least two sites. Confirm the current handbook before scheduling because current patient, setting, and course requirements govern the plan.
