New Orleans and Jefferson Parish offer systems, independent practices, community clinics, behavioral health, urgent care, pediatrics, and specialties. Baton Rouge provides another large market. Both regions can be competitive because several programs seek student capacity.

Shreveport and Bossier City anchor northwest Louisiana. Lafayette is central to Acadiana, while Lake Charles, Monroe, Alexandria, and Houma can broaden regional searches. Students in smaller communities may need a larger drive radius and a backup corridor.

Send a course-specific request naming FNP or PMHNP, the required patients, dates, schedule, and information needed from the preceptor. Ask whether a practice manager or system education office controls student access.

Discuss eligible patients, typical volume, preceptor clinic days, holidays, leave, and travel. One Louisiana site may support more than one Internship course, but the current at-least-two-site requirement means the full plan cannot depend on only one organization.
